Emma Beasley
Counseling Graduate Student Intern
Emma Beasley (she/her) is a graduate student completing her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at North Carolina State University. Emma worked as an attorney for 12 years, before pivoting her career to therapy, due to her passion for maternal mental health. Her therapeutic approach is collaborative, and her goal is to meet each client with compassion and affirmation. She is focused on supporting clients in building self-compassion, self-acceptance, confidence and coping skills to support their growth and change through life transitions. She seeks to give each client a safe and brave space to share, and incorporates curiosity, affirmation, humor and playfulness into her work.
Emma’s practice is informed by mindfulness and somatic approaches, focusing on nervous system regulation and helping clients identify and meet their own needs. Her approach to therapy is also informed by internal family systems and acceptance and commitment therapy.
She believes most clients are served best by finding an approach that combines traditional “top down” cognitive process with “bottom up” approaches to exploring and releasing the effects of chronic stress and trauma with mindfulness and somatic techniques. Emma is committed to anti-racism, strives for cultural humility, and welcomes and affirms clients of all identities and backgrounds.
Emma has completed advanced training with Postpartum Support International, where she also facilitated peer support groups for new and expectant parents experiencing mental health challenges. She has experience and a drive to support parents of all genders, and especially enjoys supporting neurodivergent families through the journey of parenthood.
Outside of the office, Emma keeps busy spending time with her partner, two children and one very rambunctious golden retriever.
