As a certified Postpartum Doula, I’m passionate about supporting families in the early weeks and months after birth. I’m thrilled to share the news of my new Postpartum Doula business: Nurtured by Emily.
With Nurtured by Emily, my goal is to provide the mom-centered nurturing care I once sought. For the past four years, I’ve offered compassionate, personalized postpartum support tailored to each family’s unique needs. Whether it’s easing the physical workload, providing expert guidance on newborn feeding, routines, and sleep, offering nonjudgmental emotional support, or connecting parents to helpful resources, my work is designed to help families thrive.
As a doula and a mom, I know firsthand how essential compassionate care is during those early days. My journey into motherhood came with challenges, and I hope that by sharing my story, I can encourage other families to seek the support they deserve in the early weeks and months after birth.
My path to motherhood was far from easy. After years of infertility and loss—including four miscarriages and a rare ectopic pregnancy marking our fifth loss—I was overjoyed to reach the third trimester with my daughter. At 33 weeks, we finally welcomed her into the world.
Because of her early arrival and a traumatic birth, our daughter needed a six-week stay in the NICU. My overwhelming joy at becoming a parent was slowly joined over time by postpartum anxiety—its effects so subtle and so sneaky that I didn’t even recognize it until after I became a doula.
In those moments, I often wondered if other moms felt the same—questioning whether it was okay to voice my fears, even while feeling deeply grateful to be a parent.
Those early experiences taught me how complex the needs of new parents can be, especially for those navigating unexpected physical or emotional challenges. This realization inspired me to become a certified Postpartum Doula and pursue additional training in maternal mental health to help bridge the gaps in support that so many families encounter.
Postpartum doulas can be a vital resource for all families, including those who are:
First-time or experienced parents,
Managing multiples,
Navigating parenthood without local support, or
Caring for a preemie or NICU graduate.
If you’re preparing to welcome a new baby or are in the midst of the newborn days, I am
here to help you through those critical first weeks and months. My services include hands-on physical support for moms, newborns, and their families, compassionate guidance, active listening, and connections to local resources.
