Rachel Hirshman

Rachel is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist Associate who has been supporting a diverse group of clients with their mental health needs since 2021. Prior to joining Waypoint, she worked with individuals from a wide-ranging backgrounds with a variety of mental health and substance use concerns in a hospital setting. She prioritizes collaborative and holistic care that connects clients to the resources they need to find healing and hope.
Rachel brings a spirit of non-judgement and compassion to her sessions. She utilizes a variety of therapeutic modalities, most prominently Person-Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Rachel strives to help clients uncover their unique values and live life in congruence with these beliefs. She draws on practices from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Internal Family Systems Therapy to assist clients with improving their functioning and quality of life. Rachel believes each client is the expert on their own experience and creates a safe place for clients to explore, experiment, and express themselves.
In addition to caring for those affected by perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, Rachel has a special interest in working with clients in recovery from substance use disorders as they adapt to the changes the perinatal period brings to all aspects of life. She supports individuals coping with a loved one’s addiction as well as those who may be newly questioning their relationship with substance use as part of their parenting journey. Her experience in healthcare social work uniquely positions her to walk with clients navigating the medical field throughout the perinatal period.
